Mustard beer

During a chat with friends one day someone floated the bright idea of making beer with mustard
. Some beers are made with hops and coriander so why not replace the coriander seeds with mustard seeds ? All we had to do was to put the idea into practice.

This turned out to be quite a daunting task. Several brewers investigated the proposal. Bister Jamboise is now finely honed and this mustard beer is available in both light and brown versions.

Bister Jamboise light beer

This special, yeast-fermented light beer is made according to traditional methods. It was officially launched on 5 September 1997 to coincide with the Jambes Mustard Festival, so it was only fitting that it should bear the name "Jamboise"...

The secret blend of mustard seeds lends this splendid light beer a slightly sharp taste. Pre-prandial and post-prandial, it is best served chilled, straight from the refrigerator.

Cheers!

Bister Jamboise brown beer

Based on real ale principles, Bister Jamboise brown beer is brewed with mustard seeds. The beer carries a cachet of its own thanks to the dash of honey added at the cooking stage.

Refermented in the bottle, the beer has a robust, spicy flavour that is silky and smooth on the palate...

It best served chilled, but a lot of people prefer it at room and other temperatures!
